Die älteste Kunst in Japan ist die Keramik, die bis in das 10. Jahrtausend vor Christus zurückreicht. Eine der Hochburgen der Keramikkunst ist bis heute die Stadt Kyoto.
Ich habe einige sehr schöne Schalen, die ich von einem befreundeten japanischen Händler erhalten habe - diese kommen ebenfalls aus Kyoto.
Das Besondere an diesen Schalen ist die Brenntechnik, die dazu führt, dass die Farben verschiedene Abstufungen haben und manche aussehen wie Jade. Die Formen sind schlicht und häufig nach antiken Vorbildern in Handarbeit modelliert.
The oldest art form in Japan is ceramics, dating back to 10.000 B.C. One of the most important centres of ceramic art until this day is the city of Kyoto. I have some beautiful bowls, which I received from a friend who is a japanese merchant. These bowls also come from Kyoto.
The specialty about these bowls is the oxidation technique, which leads to different gradations of colours and some of them look like jade. The forms are plain and are usually modelled after antique examples.
